==Gameplay==
The Vessel of Oryx deploys from a [[Tombship]] that spawns after the second piece of the brand is obtained. It projects a spherical Aura of Immortality that makes all of its allies within invincible. The Vessel itself will not behave very aggressively, mostly wandering to between the [[Deathsinger]]s' platforms. The Vessel's aura must be stolen to survive the detonation of the Corrupted Light that stuns or damages Oryx. To do this, the player with the Brand Claimer must run to the Vessel, which will have an interactable prompt for them. Interacting will give the Brand Claimer the Aura, leaving the Vessel of Oryx and nearby [[Taken]] vulnerable.

Now vulnerable, the Vessel of Oryx will become much more aggressive, attacking nearby [[Guardian]]s at the best of its abilities. If left alive, it will begin to act like a [[Light-Eater Knight]] by running towards a Corrupted Light and consuming it. This behavior change makes the Vessel's destruction among the most important tasks during the encounter.

The Vessel of Oryx reappears in ''[[Destiny 2]]'' with the reprisal of the [[King's Fall]] raid. It appears as an [[Elite]] enemy, but is otherwise unchanged in behavior.<ref>'''Bungie (2022/8/23)''', ''[[Destiny 2]]: [[Season of Plunder]] - [[King's Fall]]''</ref>

==Trivia==
*The Vessel of Oryx and the Light-Eater Knights share a model, with the only difference being that the Vessel of Oryx uses a [[Boomer]] while the Light-Eater Knights use [[Cleaver]]s.
*The Vessel of Oryx's head looks similar to Oryx's head, being mostly flat with two straight horns emerging from its sides.
*The Vessel of Oryx and Light-Eater Knights are the only Hive to have red armor.
