The Shadows is a quest that is part of The Final Days series of quests offered by Micah-10.

Step 1[edit]
Visit Micah-10 in the Lost City in the Pale Heart.

Dejana is an interesting Ghost. One of the oldest unpartnered I know of. had me worried for a while that she might wind up partnered with a risen Hive, but it turns out that wasn't the case. Some Ghosts have searched for centuries for their Guardian. I know yours did. Dejana was last seen in the EDZ investigating Taken activities. Hopefully we can find her quick. Come back in one piece, OK?
Step 2[edit]
Search for Ghost telemetry in strike "Lake of Shadows" in the EDZ.

Ghost: The Taken are a threat even to a Guardian. Dejana is in a lot of danger, trapped out in the old reservoir in the EDZ. Let's go help her!
Transcript[edit]
(Mission begins)
- Micah-10: It's been a long time since I was in the EDZ. Standing in the shadow of the Traveler's Shard always made me feel... [takes deep breath] small. Lost.
- The Crow: I feel the same thing. We should... talk about that sometime, Micah. Right now, we need to find Dejana.
- Micah-10: [sighs] You're right — on both counts. It looks like Dejana's signal is coming from the reservoir.
- Ghost:' I'm detecting a massive spike in Taken. I think they've moved back into the dam.
- The Crow: Interesting. I lived inside the dam for a while after I was risen, to get away from Spider and the Shore. That's when the Traveler started sending me visions in my dreams. Ones that led me to rebuild Hawkmoon — to find the Radiant Accipiter.
- Micah-10: I read about that. It's a jumpship, right?
- The Crow: Yeah. It was a rusted old clunker sitting in a hidden hangar. But then the Traveler... acted. It changed the ship, redesigned it. Rebuilt it.
- Micah-10: For you?
- The Crow: Well... no. I let the Guardian use it when they need to.
- Micah-10: It sounds like a metaphor. Just like rebuilding Hawkmoon was. That you had a new purpose... and it would take you far away from here.
- The Crow: I guess that explains why the ship doesn't have any conventional controls.
- Micah-10: Sometimes, you have to just strap yourself in and hope for the best.
- The Crow: Sometimes.
The Guardian clears the Taken corruption on their way into the dam and battles through Taken and Shadow Legion. After scanning a calcified statue of segmented hands, they defeat Gor'ath Gath.
- Ghost: Taken presence is receding, but I'm picking up a number of spatial anomalies. The final shape is... distorting things here. Just like it was elsewhere.
- The Crow: It's reached Earth?
- Ghost: I found Dejana's trail. I think she's headed into the Dark Forest, in the shadow of the Shard of the Traveler.
- Micah-10: Then we follow her. We don't have any time to waste.

Step 3[edit]
Search the EDZ for Dejana
- Orders read
Micah-10: The European Dead Zone. Darkness casts a long shadow there. You should tread lightly.
Notes[edit]
Dejana can be found in the Dark Forest at the base of a shard of the Traveler surrounded by statues of a hand coming out of the shard, segmented horse, Legionary, Psions and a War Beast.
Step 4[edit]
Return to the Arbor of Light in the Pale Heart to restore the Lost Ghost.
- Ghost Restored
Micah-10: Dejana could use a little boost of extra Light to get her on her way. Thankfully, we have an abundant source on hand in the Arbor.
Step 5[edit]
Return to the Arbor of Light to discuss next steps.

Micah-10: Come on back to the Arbor, we can discuss your findings.

The final shape has reached Earth. We're running out of time. I knew we might reach this point eventually, but seeing it is something else entirely. But we're not ready to move against the Witness, the Traveler isn't ready. Though... we may not have time. We only get one shot at defeating the Witness. We have to make it our best.
