Specimen ID: NES003 is the third Specimen ID quest in the Episode: Echoes Specimen ID quest chain.
Steps[edit]

You place the specimen into one of Failsafe's research bays.
When you face her, Failsafe generates the sound of a crowd applauding.
"Back again, Captain? Keep this up, and I will start to believe that you like me!"
Her voice slows.
"Or maybe you just like science."
She believes this specimen is of combatant origin, but asks you to collect the necessary research data for her to compile a report on the subject.
Step 1[edit]
Goblins and Fanatics can be found anywhere on Nessus.
- Failsafe's current hypothesis is that specimen NES003 originates from a Vex combatant. Defeat Goblins or Fanatics to identify potential molecular similarities.
- Goblins or Fanatics defeated: x/100
- "Scientific research is at its best when conducted with firearms."
- — Failsafe
Step 2[edit]
Hobgoblins and Harpies are Vex combatants that can be found on Nessus.
- The specimen's molecular signature does not match that of Vex Goblins or Fanatics. Defeat Hobgoblins or Harpies to continue narrowing the field.
- Hobgoblins or Harpies defeated: x/50
- "Oh no, not the poor little Vex!"
- — Failsafe
- "That was sarcasm. Please explode as many of them as you like."
- — Failsafe, again
Step 3[edit]
Minotaurs, Wyverns, Cyclopes and Hydras are Vex combatants that can be found on Nessus.
- The specimen doesn't match Hobgoblin or Harpy signatures either. Defeat a Minotaur, Wyvern, Cyclops, and Hydra to identify a final match.
- Vex Minotaur
- Vex Cyclops
- Vex Hydra
- Vex Wyvern
- "The Guardian's going toe-to-toe with some of the biggest, baddest Vex out there! Kick their butts, Captain."
- — Failsafe
Step 4[edit]
Research Instrument Fabricated: Breach Executable Iridescent Radiolite Extractor - Always find a random Iridescent Radiolite in the chest at the end of the Breach Executable activity (two on Expert difficulty).
- Speak with Failsafe in the H.E.L.M. to review her final specimen analysis report.
- Failsafe's Report reviewed
- "We did it again! Look at us go."
- — Failsafe
- Failsafe: Welcome back, Captain! That was the most violent research I have ever seen. And that Wyvern shield's combat uplink let me read up on Vex particle manipulation, so it was a win-win.
Failsafe is impressed with your scientific acumen! She adds cheerfully, "That was the most violent research I have ever seen."
She displays her report to you with pride.
Specimen Name: Assimilated Wyvern Shield-Wing
Report Summary: While these wings are primarily used for balance, they can also be energized to propel a Wyvern forward at high speeds.
Research Instrument Fabricated: Breach Executable Iridescent Radiolite Extractor - Always find a random Iridescent Radiolite in the chest at the end of the Breach Executable activity (two on Expert difficulty).
Step 5[edit]
The Assimilated Wyvern Shield-Wing can be placed in the specimen display in the H.E.L.M.
- Travel to the H.E.L.M. and place the Assimilated Wyvern Shield-Wing in your specimen collection.
- Specimen displayed
"Another one in the tank! Adding our specimens really makes this H.E.L.M. feel like a H.O.M.E., don't you think?"
Failsafe pauses to think of what the acronym H.O.M.E. could stand for.
Occupied with this puzzle, she does not reply to any further questions.
