When a message that reads '''"Dark Ether thickens the air..."''' it means the Abomination's Alcove has become active. This alcove is located on the wall opposite to the [[Castellum]] entrance, behind some [[Egregore]] formations. If the Alcove is active, a [[Nightmare Lurker]] will be found there, and will engage the player. Move deeper into the Alcove to arrive to a small room with three unlit censers on the ground.
