'''Raid Lairs''' are an activity that debuted in ''[[Curse of Osiris]]'' and reintroduced and reworked in ''[[The Final Shape]].

==Overview==
===First Iteration===
Like [[Raid]]s, the Raid Lairs were six-player activities that feature puzzles, challenging bosses, and exclusive loot, as well as Normal and Prestige difficulty options. Where the Raid Lairs differ is their length: they are designed to be shorter encounters than full Raids: [[Leviathan, Eater of Worlds|Eater of Worlds]] is approximately the same length as [[Crota's End]], while [[Spire of Stars]] is slightly longer. The Raid Lairs still feature a Prestige difficulty, but instead of additional objectives, players are restricted to a specific loadout of weapon types which changes each week.

The Raid Lairs had previously been discontinued with no new releases since Spire of Stars. Some later Raids were approximately the length of a Raid Lair, though are not labelled as such.

With the release of [[Beyond Light]], all previous raid lairs had been made inaccessible, entering the [[Destiny Content Vault]].

===Rework===
Raid Lairs were reintroduced as a scalable hybrid activity. With the new format, starting the activity with 3 or less players started it as a [[Dungeon]], being designed to be able to be completed solo. Starting the activity with 4 or more started it as a [[Raid]], being designed to offer a more difficult challenge and to require teamwork. 

The activity format was created as a solution for the reprised [[Raid]], now a Raid Lair, [[Crota's End]].

Raid mode for Raid Lairs usually have a length comparable to that of [[Crown of Sorrow (raid)|Crown of Sorrow]] and [[Scourge of the Past]].
