Pursuers are a Hive construct developed and utilized by the Banished Swarm. Developed for the renegade Hive brood as a fast assault "automaton", these nigh soulless constructs serve as a skirmisher unit developed to chase down any adversary and/or serve as an artillery platform to crush their loyalist foes.
Gameplay[edit]
With a few scripted exceptions, Pursuers are usually encountered in their more resilient mobile form, slowly rolling around on their spiked, chitinous hull. When they are engaged, they will immediately begin to pick up speed and try to begin rolling around their enemy. They will fire off infrequent, tracking Void bolts to try and eliminate their opponent. If they are relatively unsuccessful, they will try to run over their target, capable of dealing incredible damage upon a direct hit. They may attempt to repeat a ram a few times before returning to their ranged attack state.
If a far enough distance and/or in the presence of allies, the Pursuer will enter their emplaced state, unfurling their bodies and emplacing their spiked arms into the ground. Their ranged bolts lose their tracking ability but gain an increased rate of fire and travel faster. Additionally, the Pursuer now fires a powerful, arcing blast like a mortar with knockback capabilities. If an opponent presses the emplaced Pursuer, it can either attempt to swipe them with their arms or immediately enter their rolling state to crush them. After enough time has elapsed or if the Pursuer is by its lonesome, it will re-enter its mobile state.
