Exonerated Dirges are unique, Ultra-class Flayers discernible by their incredible size, pale green armor, jade trim, larger, more numerous quills, three tails and unique, pyramid-tech head. Rarely encountered, these special units serve as a far more formidable and versatile variant of the standard Flayer.

Gameplay

While bearing their original moveset, some moderate changes were made so as to make the Ultra-variation of the Flayer a more considerable threat. All melee attacks, while dealing incredible damage to anyone nearby, also knock them back a fair distance. Their Projected Disharmony, on top of a faster fire rate, also has slight tracking to their bolts. They deploy far more Threadlings to trace and overwhelm their adversaries compared to their inferior counterparts. When activating their Woven Mail Armor, they also apply this buff any nearby allies–if they do not already have a shield or health buff to them. Their Severing Roar, on top of their increased range and damage, also can create a continuous wave of energy Suspending any enemy in its path. If enough shots are made to their special, pyramid-tech enhanced head, especially if it is in the middle of one of their unique attacks, they will enter their enraged state, gaining increased damage resistance and increased aggression. In their enraged state, they can fire off two quills that will track a Guardian until impact, dealing sheer damage on a direct hit and knocking back any Guardian within the landing site. After a short period, these Discordant Tethers will project a damaging aura that also applies Sever to them as long as they are standing within the resonating field of effect. Occasionally, these massive units will select a Guardian and roar at them, all the while their unique heads glowing with incandescent, strand light and charge them. When close enough, they will pounce from left to right until ultimately making their final pounce upon them. If it connects, it will force the Guardian to the ground, batting them again once before repeatedly biting into them and hurling them up into the air, grabbing them with a psionic tether and repeatedly smashing and dragging them into the ground before throwing them back, severely weakening the Guardian's overall damage and making them more susceptible to all attacks made against them by the giant Flayer for a minute; the debuff can be cleansed with the death of the Exculpated Flayer.
