The Headless Hunter is a mysterious figure discovered during the Festival of the Lost by Eido and Glint.
Biography[edit]
According to the 5th Tales of the Forgotten book, the Headless Hunter was supposedly once a Guardian who had gone missing while patroling the Moon at some point after the Great Disaster. Some sources say he was captured by the Hive and subjected to tortuous rituals, while others say he stumbled upon the Lunar Pyramid and fell victim to some dark curse left by Nezarec.
Regardless of how it happened, the result was the same. The Hunter would live on as a spectre with its head replaced by a pumpkin, much like the Headless Ones. It is said to roam the moon aboard its sparrow, preying on anyone who dares trespass on his territory, whether they were Fallen, Hive or even other Guardians.
Eido once told a story of the Headless Hunter to a group of Hatchlings: Vlikvis, a Dreg of the House of Exile who was highly skilled with a Pike, attempted to claim the Headless Hunter's territory for their House. Despite warnings, Vlikvis went alone. When his crew later went to find him, Vvlikvis was nowhere to be found. All they could find was the wreckage of his Pike, a broken Ether tank and the remains of a "large orange Human fruit".
