I—Metamorphosis[edit]

Verse X:I — Metamorphosis

Setak sits within the shade of the square of Kaharn, draped in old cloth left behind from his broken court.

Wanderers of the Fundament would walk past him with scoffs and disgust.

They could not know the truth that Setak possesses. Ruin would soon be upon them at any moment.

He looks up to the sky to see the Fundaments many moons, but notices one out of place.

—-The Sky is the end of your kind Setak. But you must hold onto those that you cherish, and you will soon be reborn.—-

The words would echo within his mind, pounding like a drumbeat of seven cords.

The pain would be too much for old Setak as he would close his eyes, hoping the sleep would cut it away.

Pedestrians would walk past the mad Setak. Some felt disgusted or distrust due to him being the sole survivor of the Osmium Court. Some felt pity and shame for his madness of old age.

But the echoes would continue to reverberate in his head. Pounding. POUNDING. P O U N D I N G.

—-Awake.—-

———

The moment he awakes, the square had been ambushed. Tents had been collapsed, citizens were running amok and being chased by foreign entities.

Setak stands up to inspect his surroundings.

He walked past one of the damaged tents, brushing past the cloth and noticing one of the citizens was impelled by an obsidian blade.

He leapt backward in horror, only to feel immediate dread as he sensed someone behind him.

"Setak… old friend."

The voice from behind spooked Setak who cried out in terror as he fell to the ground. He would turn his head to face the aggressor.

The figure stand tall, wings collapsed behind their back. He wore a wide crown; they smelled of death and rot. His three figured hand was outstretched to Setak, and in his hand was the larvae of a Worm, much like the king's familiar.

II—Blunt Hammer[edit]

Verse X:II — Blunt Hammer

Shin'ra, Maker morph of Setak. We admire your work in the craft of weapons and your talents of the hunt.

Your smithing prowess has helped us to break free from the Fundament's surface, but an example must be made upon this star bound civilization. Savathûn named them the Ammonite. They hold captive your student's nemesis and our great foes hide within their skies.

You must help us to cut down these Ammonite and hunt down the great Leviathan. Without the hunt, your Worm will devour you whole.

Take to the sky your great armaments and destroy all who stand in the way of your Worms, your Gods.

—-Enough.—-

—-You were not meant to be a pawn to them. They set you free from their madness, but you are not beholden to them. We offer you salvation beyond death. Beyond the final carving that your people fail to understand.—-

—-But you can wield that failure. Blunt their sharp blades into a precise shape. One befitting the last true shape.—-

—-Hunt the Leviathans, cut them into a shape of your choosing. Make them into your armament. Wield them as your weapon. So that you may become the final blade.—-

—-You will take their weakness and wield it against them, then you will make a new understanding for yourself. Claim what is owed to you.—-

III—Trial of War[edit]

Verse X:III — Trial of War

A Violent Liturgy —
Cried Out by Xivu Arath —
Student of Shin'ra —

SHIN'RA CONQUERS HIS FOES. The Maker strides into battle against the Ammonite. He smashes his foes with his mighty hammer with one hand and cuts them to pieces with the other. He slaughters all those that would stand against him, but shatter like glass.

SHIN'RA IS THE FORGE GOD. His mighty weapons strengthens us as it does him. His ruin shall carve a path to us towards the Leviathan so that we may feast upon its coward flesh. He is the herald of the death and end of the Ammonites.

SHIN'RA'S VILE PLAN. He seeks to build a massive ship from the corpse of the Leviathan and its kin, a temple to his mastery of the Sword Logic. The Worms agree to this action and will hold us accountable for failure to the hunt. So we must devoutly serve or perish to our Worm's hunger.

SHIN'RA VICTORIUS. The Ammonite fall to Auryx's scheme, the Leviathan lays dead by the hands of my champion and its corpse to be fed to the Worms and used to set the foundations of Shin'ra's great plan. A mighty vessel used to conquer the stars themselves.

SHIN'RA FORMS HIS LEGACY. He summons forth his champions and sets them toward the hunt. The Leviathans will cower at our victory, they will run into the depths to where we will find them and they will cry for our mercy. Death is all that they shall face at our hands.

IV—In the Deep[edit]

Verse X:IV — In the Deep

A Knight and an Acolyte convened near a statue of a veiled figure, looking up to it. They listened for a whisper, but all was silent.

Noticing a sound from the entrance of the chamber, they scuttled away as past Shin'ra. They would look at him for a second and ran off as he turned his head toward them in annoyance.

He turned to face the statue and press toward towards it. Standing close to its base, he knelt to one knee and spoke to break the uncomfortable silence.

"My Witness, I have failed to subjugate another species. The Ussatan were strong but not strong enough. What is our next move?"

A dark mist emanated from the statue and began to engulf the room. It swallowed Shin'ra while he appeared in a realm of black emptiness, an echo of his domain.

He sees a mighty figure, shrouded in Darkness with a mist emanating from the top of its head, its hands in the form of some type of prayer. On each side of them lays the corpse of those of the Nadheal and the Ussatan.

—-These are victories Shin'ra, they proved their weakness to the sword and shattered before it.—-

"But Acaeleon proved his worth to be one of your disciples."

—-He, like so many before, was weakened by the gift of the Sky. Your armaments proved themselves worth to make you one of my chosen. As I have always planned for you.—-

"I am not worthy of such an honor, my-"

The figure swiftly cut him from ending the sentence.

—-It is too early for that. But I give to you a task, one that I hope you will not "fail" to accomplish.—-

V—Carrion[edit]

Verse X:V — Carrion

Darkness.

Darkness is all that Shin'ra could see from the object.

Its tendrils swayed with motion and energy, echoing beyond the plane of reality to the metaphysical.

The corpse of a Knight lays before the object. Its dying echo cries out to Shin'ra to end its suffering. But their cries were left unanswered as he was too fixated onto the object.

He could hear a voice emanating from it, not from his master, anyone or anything he has ever heard before.

A gurgling scream that one could describe as a laugh.

The tendrils of the object latched onto the Knight's corpse, lifting it up high into the air. Its skin began to shed and bleed profusely. Its bones cracked and reshaped into a new and yet corrupted shell.

I am the dread below the depths. I am risen from blood.

Shin'ra would step back in horror.

I AM THE DEFILER OF LIGHT AND LIFE. I AM THE DEFILER OF DARKNESS AND DEATH.
