Warbase Ares is a Golden Legion base that rests on the dormant Martian volcano, Olympus Mons. The Warbase was a massive testing ground for the Golden Legion's experiments and was meant to be their new seat of power of the Cabal Empire.
The Psion Flayer Erkos would become Taken and would lead an assault on the Warbase, claiming it for the Taken. During the Almighty Crisis, the Golden Legion would reclaim the Warbase, only for it to be lost when Mars was claimed by the Witness. They would successfully reclaim their territory on Olympus Mons when Savathûn, the Witch Queen brought Mars back from its anomalous state.
