Tractor Cannon is an exotic Shotgun in Destiny 2. It's main feature is that each blast causes significant knockback to the target. Any enemy that is knocked into a solid surface will receive extra damage. It is also effective at blasting enemies into chasms to fall to death. If it kills an enemy for four seconds you'll get a buff called "The Scientific Method" that increases your speed by about seventy percent and its timer resets if you kill another enemy while the buff is active.
