Cutscene

The camera shows the town of Trostland in the EDZ, with the church featuring prominently to the side of the central plaza. In the background the Shard of the Traveler looms.
The camera shifts showing a close up of the church showing the communication array covering the belltower.

Suraya Hawthorne: Don’t get cocky now that you’ve got your powers back. The EDZ is rough, especially around the old town. Just remember: refugees from the [City]] have it a lot rougher. You want to help them, find Devrim Kay.

The Whisperwing appears as the camera shifts once more to show the jumpship coming in slow over the Trostand center, depositing The Guardian.

Gameplay

Trostland
Speak with Devrim in the EDZ
Hawthorne has asked you to help her friend Devrim. Find him in the ruined town of Trostland.
The Guardian transmats into Trostland and proceeds to the ruined church immediately in front of them. Devrim Kay is up in the belltower, requiring the player to navigate their way up to his position.

Devrim Kay: A guest. And here I have no tea to serve. These are dire times indeed. Devrim Kay - the Eighth - at your service. City militia, back when there was a City. Now I serve at the pleasure of my dear friend Suraya Hawthorne. Heh.

Devrim: First on the docket: contact other refugees and tell them of the Farm. That means building a comm network from the ground up. And even though I happen to be a damn good shot, the Fallen are giving me a devil of a time. I dare say you can handle a few rounds with the enemy. I’ve seen what you Guardians can do.

Devrim: Right. I think it’s time to let the guns do the talking now, don’t you?

Devrim has been working to set up a regional communication network to let the scattered people of the City know they can find safety and community on the Farm. But the Fallen are not making that task easy.

Complete adventure "A New Frontier."
It’s not just Red Legion in the European Dead Zone. Explore the area and see what the Fallen are up to.

Devrim Kay: Let’s get started. There’s a banner on the main floor. Give it a look, will you?

Find the banner.
Enter the ground floor of the church and find what’s hanging on the wall below Devrim
The player locates Ghost Scan EDZ-TL-4 and interacts with it, introducing the concept of Ghost Scans to the player.
Investigate

Ghost: This is a House of Judgment sigil. We used to work with a Fallen who flew this banner.

Devrim: Curious. Well the Fallen seem to have put this up as a bit of a threat. I imagine you’ll find lots of objects like this out there with a bit of a story to them.

Devrim: We both need some supplies to get going out here. See if you can find a cache in one of the buildings nearby.

Loot Region Chest.
Hidden in a nearby structure is a chest left by the Fallen before they retreated underground. Find it and take their contents.
The player follows directions to a building next to the church where they fight a small force of Fallen, including Shanks guarding the Region Chest.
Collect Loot.

Devrim: Very well done. To survive we’ll have to look for every opportunity. Keep your eyes peeled for more supplies in the wilds.

Devrim: Speaking of the wilds, there’s a symbol on the wall of the church. Take a look.

Explore the church
The player returns to the church interior where a Lost Sector symbol can be seen on the wall. The player approaches.

Ghost: Devrim, where did this symbol come from?

Devrim: I believe your City Hunters must have put them here and there about the region as they scouted around. I think they meant it to mark something special. Or dangerous.

Ghost: Or both. Let’s go check it out.

Enter the tunnels
Descend into the tunnels and see what lurks below

Devrim: The history of this region is fascinating. I believe tunnels and caves like the one you’re in now stretch all across the EDZ. Who knows what’s lurking down there. Be careful.

Atrium
Lost Sector
The player arrives in the Atrium Lost Sector and commences battle against the Fallen.
Explore the Atrium
Descend further into the tunnels and defeat every Fallen there.
The player fights through the area, encountering the Lost Sector’s boss Skexsis, Outcast Captain
Defeat Fallen Captain.
Engage Skexis, leader of the Fallen in these tunnels - and eliminate him
The player defeats Skexis.

Ghost: I just snagged a keycode from that Captain. I think I can open that supply cache!

Seize reward.
Now that Skexis is gone and the chest is unlocked, open it and receive a reward.
Collect loot.
The player opens the Lost Sector chest, receiving some uncommon equipment, Glimmer, and ‘’EDZ Tokens’’, introducing the Token economy as a concept for the player to explore when they return to Devrim.

Devrim: Good work down there, you two. Keep an eye out for other hidey holes and treasures like this one!

Devrim: But that’s for another day. In the meantime what say we get down to buisness? Come on back up to the church tower. I’m putting the kettle on now.
