Forums: Index → Community Proposal → Partnership with www.ishtar-collective.net |
The Ishtar Collective website, from which we source occasionally, has added a forum where they invite users of the site to suggest improvements, compile transcripts to be added automatically (with ackowledgements) to the database, and general discussion on lore like on the subreddits we have linked. Ever since it went through a redesign on November 3, 2016 where it became streamlined, the website has become incredibly more efficient over Bungie Armory when searching for image pictures and lore.
I propose that we offer a partnership to them. We add a link to their website and forum under Community, they list our wiki in the same manner, their users can hop between ours and we to them, and everyone benefits. While they have generally compiled everything its not all complete and we have many, many articles that extrapolate from what's in-game, if we partner we get a potential influx of lore-enthusiasts and wiki-archivists, while we can contribute to making their website even better. It is a win-win for everyone.
Arcmind and I have already created accounts there, and have found it active. --Δαντε τηε Γηοστ Ι ωονδερ ιφ Ικορα γιϝες ηυγς το Γηοστσ. Ηεη... ανψωαψς, νιξε ωορκ. Τηις ις ωηατ Ι υσεδ. 15:12, 30 January 2017 (EST)
- I second Dante's proposal. I think it will do the wiki good to get some folks familiar with the lore to join us. It would also benefit them to get more notoriety from a well-known source like the wiki. Arcmind Talk • Contribs 15:16, 30 January 2017 (EST)
- Porple's on board with it. Got his permission to reach out. --Δαντε τηε Γηοστ Ι ωονδερ ιφ Ικορα γιϝες ηυγς το Γηοστσ. Ηεη... ανψωαψς, νιξε ωορκ. Τηις ις ωηατ Ι υσεδ. 15:56, 30 January 2017 (EST)

The ProposalEdit
Hey there!
Destinypedia is interested in a partnership with www.ishtar-collective.net. While our activity is low, the admins -- myself and Arcmind, plus a few others including the developer Porplemontage -- being more or less the only active contributors here, we have been steadily expanding during Destiny's runtime. We've used your website to cite sources and to occasionally create missing articles where content is public and shared.
We can feature your website and forum on ours, as we are a generally reputable site, and you can do the same. We've already cited from your website multiple times, and the forums here are more active than our own. We could mutually benefit as Destinypedia will gain potentially more active users and we can lend our skills to better the growing community here.
What say you?

Hi just checking in, have you guys reached a decision? --Arcmind

Hey, I'm sorry I've not replied sooner. We have been discussing it and we are still unsure... I really love Destinypedia and all the great work that you've done, but we have been very independent for a long time, so it's taking some consideration!
On top of that, I am travelling from Ireland to Australia tomorrow for work, so I'm not as focussed on the Ishtar Collective as I usually am... I'm really sorry, I hope you understand! --Baxter

No worries I understand now. However we do not mean to merge sites, the Collective would still remain as independent as ever, its just that both sites would mention and refer visitors to the other, while formally recognizing a friendship. Destinypedia will include a link to the Ishtar Collective on its navigational page as well as mentioning them whenever a source is sited from it and would also maintain an option to set up an account with the collective from Destinypedia's own sign up form. In return, the Collective would mention Destinypedia and include links to it as well. This form of partnership would allow the Collective to gain more notability through an already mainstream website while also providing members of the Collective an opportunity to also set up an account on Destinypedia. But there is no pressure for a decision, I just wanted to stop in to make sure we did not cause any confusion. In the meantime, have a nice trip! --Arcmind
