The Fall of Torobatl was a catastrophic conflict between the Cabal Empire, led by Empress Caiatl, and the Hive God of War Xivu Arath, who was summoned to the Cabal Capital by Umun'arath, along with her Horde.
History
Years after the death of Dominus Ghaul, the Evocate-General Uumun'arath would grow increasingly drawn to the ways of the Hive due to the manipulations of Savathûn, the Witch Queen.[1] Following her removal from the Cabal council after Caiatl learned of her growing obsession firsthand,[2] Umun began a ritual in the central square of the Weaponsmith District of Torobatl. Caiatl found her in the custody of two guards, dressed in only a waist wrap and with strange runes carved into her hide. Ultimately, Caiatl cut Umun down, but this triggered a ritual that opened a colossal portal over Torobatl, bringing forth Xivu Arath and her forces.[1]
It is unknown how long the conflict lasted. However, rumors from the Cabal suggest that it was around five days.[3] Other rumors included a Psion taking down a Tombship with only flaming arrows and the Gladiator Thur'Ak fending off more than a hundred Thrall when he broke the charge at Tor'trol.[4][5]
Caiatl herself would take part in the fight against the Hive, flying a fighter ship alongside Threshers. However, it would crash, but she would survive. After recovering, she would see the Hive beginning to corrupt the planet as Cryptoliths began sprouting from the ground. From above, Xivu Arath announced she had come to claim her overdue tribute.[6]
Eventually, the Cabal were forced to abandon Torobatl as Caiatl planned to go to Sol to reclaim what remained of the Cabal that went to the System with Ghaul to rebuild and eventually reclaim Torobatl.[7] Despite this, some Cabal, such as those of Tribe Kiraulc, were rumored to have held in their fortress for weeks after Torobatl had fallen before imperial bombardments.[8]
