- "House Rain lost in Whirlwind. No survivors, but I keep their prophecies."
- — Variks, the Loyal[1]
The House of Rain was a Fallen House distinguishable by their dark purple cloaks and armor. Regarded as the lowest noble House in the aftermath of the cataclysmic Whirlwind, they were once believed by Variks to have been destroyed, but later revealed they had survived and reached Sol.
History[edit]
During the height of Elksini culture, House Rain members once prophesied that a Fallen warrior, whose enemies would "flee or fall", would one day rise to "heal the Houses and make them whole" and be christened the "Kell of Kells".[2] The House was believed destroyed by the Whirlwind that ruined the Fallen civilization,[1] but some members managed to get all the way to Sol.
During the Dark Age, the House tracked a small group of Human colonists to Mercury. They destroyed the settlement and killed the survivors, but were unable to kill their protector, Saint-14, due to The Guardian's actions.[3] Alongside their hunt of Humanity on Mercury, the House were in constant conflict with the invasive Vex.
The House is believed to have been destroyed by Saint-14, in an event called the "The breaking of the Weapons of Rain".[4]
Legacy[edit]
Though the House of Rain was destroyed, the House of Dusk would later adopt their purple banners and symbol.[5][6]

Trivia[edit]
- Variks claimed that the House was lost in the Whirlwind, but they were around in the Dark Age. This means that either: Variks lied about its destruction, they faked their deaths, or they were mistaken as destroyed, perhaps after going into hiding.
- Due to the House of Rain being present on Dark Age Mercury, it's possible that the Fallen simulations seen in the Infinite Forest may have been former members of the House of Rain that had been captured and simulated by the Vex.
