Iska'al of Fantor was a Cabal tea merchant in the Cabal empire who acted as a former confidante of Emperor Calus, the latter whom would share information that he felt he could trust Iska'al with. He was later assassinated by Rull, Gun of Kaga Clipse after a decision by the exiled emperor to dispose of the merchant for failing as a supporter.

Biography

Before Calus's initial purge of the Praetorate, Iska'al was merely a poverty-stricken tea merchant when the newly coronated Cabal Emperor had moved the empire's capital to the homeworld of Torobatl to be near its people. In the first days of office, Calus recurrently visited his cart after parading himself in public. Iska'al - whom Calus believed to be trustworthy at that time - would be privy to the Emperor's private secrets and affairs; including his own personal troubles and deepest concerns.

After the events of the Midnight Coup, however, Iska'al became wealthy as his teas had found popularity among a clique of Red Legion soldiers, who would tease him by calling him the "Imperial Informant" as though he would send word to Calus. The former emperor himself would develop a personal vendetta against the merchant due to his perceived inaction to which he deemed to be a form of treason. Despite this, he proscribed Isa'kal should be killed by an overdose of opiates - so that he could die in ecstasy.

During a military celebration held on Torobatl, one of Calus's Shadow assassins, Rull, had snuck into his estate. Iska'al attempted to crawl away as his guards were killed in front of him. In the end, Iska'al was drowned to death after Rull force-fed him a goblet of Calus's own wine.
