Race vs Faction formatting

Now, I'm sure we'll figure this all out in due time once the expansion releases since the they were just revealed yesterday but I thought I'd start a conversation about how we're classifying the dreads and their pre-existing units.

While I think it's clear that they're not an original species, clearly being developed from existing races like the Lubraeans, whatever Nezarec is, and Psions, I believe, however, that they're in a similar situation to the Scorn and the Taken.

The Scorn and Taken are distinct enough in gameplay that we've included them in both race and faction categories and navboxes, despite not being an original species but rather being transformed. For their units, such as, the Taken Psion or Chieftain, we typically classify their species as Taken and Scorn.

I don't see the Dread as being in much of a different situation as those two factions and I believe that it might be practical to format them in the same way, moving forward. Once we know more we might be able to include which original species each unit is based on.

Bungie have stated that it is a faction in their Livestream, nowhere does it state that they are a new race. I would rather we wait until Final Shape releases before posting more information (since we don’t have anything on them atm.) TheTrueSorrowMaker 6:09, April 10, 2024 (CDT)
