- — Oryx
Syrok, Word of Oryx was an Ultra Taken Knight who took part in the assault of the Cabal Fleetbase Korus on Phobos, heralding the arrival of Oryx, the Taken King, in the Sol System. Syrok was among the first Taken to be encountered by the Guardian inside the Skyburners's base, who managed to survive the ambush and eliminate the Knight and its forces.[1]
Gameplay
Syrok appears as a boss midway through The Coming War Mission. After Oryx announces himself to the player, his Taken servant will arrive alongside several Taken Psions. Syrok is armed with corrupted Boomer that fires Void blasts, which travel a fast and in a straight line as opposed to its regular counterpart. They are also very agile; being able to move around quite quickly, and will sometimes charge at the player to swing at them with their fist. As a Taken Knight, the boss can use a short-range teleport ability to evade incoming attacks, and is capable of shooting streams of Solar projectiles out of their mouth, setting fire to the ground where they land. However, Syrok is lacking in terms of defences, and even health, meaning they can be brought down easily enough so long as you watch out for their Psion allies. After the boss has been eliminated, Commander Zavala will order you to head to your Jumpship and retreat, and you may continue to the end of the mission.
