Excavators are Fallen Vandals and Associates of the Spider, tasked with protecting Drills in the Expedition activity until the Guardians arrive.[1]
Gameplay
An Excavator will spawn at the location of the first Drill at the beginning of any Expedition activity, in order to fend off any nearby enemies. After you and your teammates have cleared the area and begun the drilling process, the Excavator will despawn.
