Humanity is an intelligent race native to the planet Earth.

History

The city below the Traveler.

Before the events of Destiny, humanity had gained considerable technological advancement. This technological advancement led to a Golden Age, with much of the Sol System being completely colonised. This "Golden Age" did not last. Humanity was attacked by an unknown faction or entity, which decimated human forces, until almost all human settlements were completely destroyed. The last human remnants were saved from a similar fate by the Traveler, a spherical entity of unknown power, which is said to have sacrificed itself to stop this enemy. After the sacrifice of the Traveler, humanity began to re-explore its old empire, creating a city beneath its resting place. [1]

By the events of Destiny, humanity was in the process of reclaiming their past empire, with the city as the base of the remnants of their civilisation. The city is constantly under siege from various races who have appear to have also made it their goal to claim humanity's now lost empire. These races being the Cabal, the Fallen, and the Vex, who appear to fight humanity for dominance of Earth and the Sol System.

Humanity is split into five factions; Dead Orbit, FWC, New Monarchy, Osiris, and Seven Seraphs.

Technology

During the golden age, humanity's technological achievement had been high. Interplanetary travel was used frequently, creating an empire throughout the Solar system.

During the events of Destiny, humanity appears to have reclaimed some, if not the entirety of, their former technological prowess, albeit at a smaller scale. [1] The city's Guardians can utilise some of the powers of the Traveler, through unknown means. Guardians are split up in three different classes: Hunter, Warlock, and Titan. All classes have their own special abilities.
