Forum:Multiple Wikis
From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki
Forums: Index → General Discussion → Multiple Wikis |
Currently there are allot of different Wikis for Destiny. It would be best if all the wikis that are out now should be combined into 1 Wiki making it easier for the Users to find what their looking for and it will make the editing of the wikis allot faster because there are multiple people working on it.
List of Wikis:
Anyone have plans on how to contact the other Wiki owners and come to a conclusion on how we should combine the wikis? Sgtfrankieboy (talk) 15:28, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- I contacted the admins of destinypedia.wikia.com and only got a response from one of them, which was not positive. So I wouldn't count on anything happening there. I haven't talked to destiny.wikia.com, but anyone here certainly could. Our goal is to be the independent alternative to the Wikia sites just like Halopedia is to Halo Nation. I'm guessing Wikia will always have at least one Destiny site. --Porplemontage (talk) 15:54, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- May I know what that response was? Sgtfrankieboy (talk) 15:57, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- I don't want to post the private message, but I'll summarize. I offered to make them admins here in order to consolidate wikis so there's only one Destinypedia, and I was told that the offer "sucks" and I'm exploiting community members. From there I just moved forward, no longer really concerned about them. I figured owning "destinypedia.com" gave us enough clout to use the name. --Porplemontage (talk) 16:08, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- Do you know why they are saying that you are exploiting community members? Sgtfrankieboy (talk) 16:11, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- I don't know that this admin spoke for the entire wiki, but he basically accused me of trying to use them to build my wiki while I sat back and reaped big advertising money. To be fair, Halopedia has ads, but really to cover hosting expenses and the like. I responded that we're just trying to build this independent wiki and make peace on the name, but no response back. --Porplemontage (talk) 16:26, 18 February 2013 (EST)
- It's also worth noting that there's just a small hint of irony in choosing Wikia's record over our record on the grounds of exploitation through advertisements. --Porplemontage (talk) 16:59, 18 February 2013 (EST)
