At some point after the two had last spoken, RS had a change of perspective after learning of their plan to untie the minds of the Precursors to a single being. He would renounce the Consensus and set off into the cosmos. Centuries later, HNW would try to send a communication log to him, informing him that Consensus, controlled mostly by the Penitent, had destroyed the Nihilists and Solipsists and that they would use the Veil to become one to pursue the Final Shape. Although RS had seemingly cut most communication with them, HNW hoped they would see it and confessed that they reached out to RS not to convince them to return, but out of respect for their compassion, selfishly admitting that he didn't want to forget them once they merged.
