Thumbnail Sizing

Mediawiki image formatting has predefined tags |thumb, |frame, and |frameless to make thumbnails formatting easier and consistent across the site. See Mediawiki Image Formatting Help for more details. The default setting is 180px. See Thumbnail Size setting at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering-files.

I was using |frameless on Emblems/Destiny 2 and a user resized the thumbnails with an explicit declaration of 96px, e.g. |frameless|96px.

1. Is 96px the desired site-wide default?
2. If it is the desired default, can the Thumbnail Size setting at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering-files be changed to 96px, so the |96px isn't required?
3. Should we add a section to Help:Images documenting the preferred Thumbnail formatting?
