Emperor Ganag Zor, commonly known as Emperor Zor and Zor, is a Cabal aristocrat of the Cabal Praetorate. He was responsible for a majority of the events preceding Calus' rule as Emperor, even being the one responsible for the Leviathan's creation, the exile of the Empress before Calus and the rise of the greater Golden Legion. Throughout the years, Zor was given a reputation of bringing order from chaos and was feared by his own species.

During the later inaugurations of Calus and Ghaul, Zor and his Legion would begin to lose power, however, but it would not destabilize his pride and hope for glory. From the shadows, Zor continued to raise his Legion from the ashes of Calus' and Ghaul's failed rules of Emperor and Dominus respectively, eventually raising an army far greater than the likes of the Red Legion and the later Shadow Legion in hopes to make his claim for the imperial crown.

BiographyEdit

Spawn of a LegendEdit

"You ever heard of the legend of Zoraeleus? He was my ancestor. Zoraeleus claimed his own sun and used it as a Dyson Sphere.... or laser? My father wasn't about specifics. My father was named after him through that legend."
— Xar'aram Phaelus, Traitor to the Legion

Ganag Zor was born into a luxurious family within the Cabal Empire. At a young age, his parents would offer him to the aristocrats of the Praetorate as tribute, who saw the great potential in the young Ganag. He would be under watch by the aristocrats and was taught lessons to grow his own strength and power.

At some point, he would be offered a War Beast as his own pet. Seeing that his attention was slowly being drawn more to his pet than his own lessons, the Praetorate forced his War Beast to attack Ganag, leaving a scar on his left eye. Ganag would be forced to kill his own War Beast and grow a grudge against the members of the Praetorate. When he became of age, Ganag joined the ranks of Praetorate. During his inauguration, Ganag invited a dozen Colossi soldiers to the meeting and had them fire onto the members of the Praetorate, declaring that Ganag was dead and he was now Zor.

Rise of the Golden LegionEdit

"There was only one legion in my time, my legion, the Golden Legion. I saw to it that they conquered entire galaxies in my name with the Golden Fleet. Many worlds fell in their wake, nothing stood against them."
— Zor

Zor would eventually appoint new members into the Praetorate, one of which he would become close friends with, the Consul. With his newfound power, Zor sought to revive the dying Golden Legion and make it the personal army of the Praetorate. He would attempt and fail to revive the ancient Golden Fleet to begin a new Era of Conquest. To ensure his wealth and power, Zor saw to the construction of the Leviathan to careen the ossifying body of the Cabal Empress at the time.

Zor would grow a fascination with one of the races that was subjugated by the Cabal, being the Psions. He would come across one of the Freeborns known as Qodan and became acquainted with them. He would learn much of the history of the Psions from Qodan, especially the ancient religions like their worship of Nezarec.

Rise and fall of Emperor CalusEdit

"I searched high and low searching for Zor within the wastelands. Many believed he died during the slaughter of the Council, others believed he committed suicide, but I found him, plotting to regain his power over the empire."
— The Consul

When Calus staged an uprising against the Praetorate, Zor had secretly escaped the assassination of the Cabal senate alongside his close confidants. He would witness the paradigm shift of the Cabal's military and rewriting of history to favor the now Emperor Calus.

Zor plotted against Calus with the Consul and sought out the disgraced outcast known as Ghaul and desired to use him as an instrument to topple Calus' regime from the inside. He would help the Consul to train Ghaul, he would even teach him that the throne was theirs by right and in order to reclaim it, they needed to take it for themselves. This inadvertently instilled the idea that Ghaul instead deserved the seat of power of the Cabal empire and not Zor. In the shadows, he sewed the seeds of distrust within Calus' own inner circle, turning the once great warrior Moli Imoli, the Everyjoy and the Primus of All Legions Umun'arath, both were veterans who went against Calus during his own Coup against the Praetorate.

When the Midnight Coup started, Zor himself stormed the capital and ordered his own guards to capture Calus and prepare him for execution. Before Ghaul could make his move, Caiatl stayed his blade and instead believed that he deserved the fate that was put onto the previous Empress. Zor agreed with this action and had his guards round up any remaining loyalists to Calus and imprison them aboard the Leviathan and set the course to the outer fringes of the Cabal empire from which it would continue its course to the edges of known space. Ghaul would eventually claim the throne as Dominus, decreeing that there would be no more Emperors.

Under the DominusEdit

"Death to Ghaul for he took the throne from the glorious Zor! Death to the Dominus!"
— Unknown

Seeding the SkyburnersEdit

"Some would say the Golden Legion controlled the Skyburners. To those who have said it were correct, my brother after all took entire fleets worth of em to take down thousands of War moons."
— Unknown

Arrival in SolEdit

"The Red Legion were only the beginning of what was to come, while the Red Legion held the inner sector, the Golden Legion went outward to plunder the secrets of the system."
— Unknown

Death of the DominusEdit

"Good riddance to the Dominus, he wanted to be blessed by a god when he wasn't worthy enough to claim it. Did he not know when it comes to the Light and Dark, something must be taken in order to be given?"
— Zor

Glory to the EmperorEdit

"So Calus comes in as we are on the verge of gaining control of MY empire?! Send him to the grave where he should've went centuries ago!"
— Zor

The Golden EmpireEdit

"Io, Mars, Mercury, Europa, Venus, Earth. We are nearly close to controlling this system, what we need is to make a statement of our might. I believe Olympus Mons may be the perfect candidate."
— Zor

Cabal Booklet EntryEdit

The Advisor: Ganag Zor, the Unyielding.Edit

Of all of the loathsome Praetorate, it is only Zor that I both hate and pity.

In a way, I see a bit of myself in him. We both slaughtered Praetorate members when we became emperor. But I did so to bring forward an age of revelry for all of the Empire's citizens, while Zor did so to ensure power for himself and his Loyalists.

It was he who led the Praetorate as its head, who used the Legions to control the people through fear and intimidation, who uncaringly constructed mighty weapons with the blood of his citizens.

When I overthrew the Praetoroate, Zor was one of the few who escaped justice. He schemed alongside the vile Consul, poisoning the minds of my confidantes with their hatred for my joy. I had hoped Ghaul would do what I could not, but knowing that Gluttonous Overachiever no longer rules the Empire does little to comfort me.

Zor must die.

He will not be so easily found. He will run and stay hidden like the roach he is.

You will have to lure him out. Bait him with power, a relic, a secret. Only then, will you have your chance.

TriviaEdit

  • Zor's personality appears to be a mix of both Ghaul and Calus due to his brute-like tendencies and his lavish taste for opulence, splendor and glory.
    • This adds onto the fact that he wears regal armor and adornments similar to Ghaul and Calus.
  • Zor is by far one of the largest Cabal ever encountered, appearing only slightly taller than Calus in Desperate Measures.
