Mihaylova was a human astronaut and part of the Ares One mission, the first manned spaceflight to Mars. Mihaylova, along with fellow astronauts Jacob Hardy and Qiao, would make first contact with the Traveler, beginning the Golden Age of humanity.[1][2] Mihaylova is believe to be Bulgarian in nationality because of the origins of the character's surname.
