"The Shredder, like so much Hive technology, appears to be an arcane joining of uncharted sciences that verge on magic. It has no discernible mechanism. But in the hands of a Hive warrior, it generates bolts of Void fire."
— Grimoire description[1]

The Shredder is a Hive energy carbine used by Acolytes and certain Knights. It fires rapidly in small bursts.[2]

Gameplay

Shredders are the common weapons of Acolytes. Though a single Shredder poses little threat, hordes of Acolyte can unleash blinding volleys of Void bolts, capable of suppressing uncareful foes. It is rarely used by Knights, who fire the weapon in longer bursts, trying to engage the enemy from up close.

The Taken's Shredder has seemingly exchanged attributes with the Boomer, now firing bolts of Arc with a descending trajectory. Taken Acolytes and Taken Knights use it more or less the same as their base counterparts.
