Transcript

(Mission Start)

  • Empress Caiatl: Zavala, I'd like to thank you for answering our call for support.
  • Zavala: Of course, Empress. What is the current sit-rep?
  • Empress Caiatl: Renegade elements have holed themselves within the bowels of the former Skyburners ship for reasons my spies have yet to uncover. These traitors are not working with the Shadow Legion, but rather they are traditionalist terrorists who have objected to our arrangements.
  • Zavala: I see. Guardians, board that ship and see what these seditionists are up to.

The Guardians eliminate the Hive and Cabal forces engaging at the entrance of the ship, lifting the lockdown and entering the Dantalion Exodus VI.

  • Zavala: You know, back when we were in total war, the commanders of this ship took orders to board the Dreadnaught in search of Hive secrets. What is truly extraordinary, however, is that the commanders rammed this ship right into one of the Hive's most formidable weapons... without a hint of hesitation.
  • Empress Caiatl: As they should have. Primus Ta'aun has been fighting on your front for years and still continued to fight valiantly even in the face of terrible foes. In the face of Oryx. He truly was among the greatest of our warriors. He had more than earned is warrior's death. These traitors should feel lucky they earn such treatment as well.

The Guardians enter the main bay of the ship, encountering Taken and Cabal forces fighting.

  • Empress Caiatl: It appears our adversaries have earned the ire of the Taken. Not even my father's toadies would have stirred such chaos.
  • Zavala: Forget what they say about the enemy of my enemy here, Guardians. These rebels should have a manifest or terminal nearby with orders from their commanders. Seek it out, and we just may find out what these rebels are up to.

The Guardians slowly but surely eliminate both forces and approach the garage area of the ship. A barrier forms, trapping the Guardians in. The door opens, revealing a squad of Cabal and a Goliath Tank.

  • Empress Caiatl: Cowards! These fools seek to eliminate you with traps and trickery! Overturn their ambush.

The Guardians eliminate the assailants and reduce the Goliath Tank to scrap. A terminal in the back of the room is prompted to be scanned. The fireteam interfaces with it.

  • Zavala: Uplink established, we are receiving the marching orders of these Cabal as we speak... Hmm... It appears they have brought high-yield explosives aboard this ship. The commanders have made orders to- ...what?!
  • Empress Caiatl: Those mad fools! They're planting explosives on the core of this ship! They seek to have me step down from the seat of Empress or they'll detonate their bombs! Find the demolitionists, quickly!

The fireteam eliminate Cabal and Taken reinforcements and start heading to The Bridge, bypassing it and eliminating the Cabal guards and head for the battle-ravaged Narthex.

Note: On Nightfall difficulties, a Tormentor will lock the Guardians in at the Bridge in the section between the passage to the Narthex and the entrance of the ship, and will spawn Taken reinforcements.

  • Zavala: If those terrorists detonate those bombs, they'll take half the solar system with them! They care not about us or the Witness, they only want Caiatl out of the way! We cannot allow this! It's up to you to put them down.
  • Empress Caiatl: I have reinforcements en route to the core, but it may take time. Disarm those bombs!

The Guardians enter the core and eliminate the Demolitionists inside, starting a disarming sequence and eliminating the teams attempting to activate them. The fireteam successfully disarms the bombs.

  • Zavala: [Sighs with relief] The bombs are neutralized. Well done fireteam.
  • Empress Caiatl: Hold on. We're not done yet. The leaders are here... somewhere.

The Guardians are prompted to approach the door in the back. The door opens, revealing a lunging Valus Khazog. A shared health-pool appears at the bottom of the screen.

  • Empress Caiatl: I knew it! Those traitors are here! My forces are converging now.
  • Zavala: Take them down team.

The Guardian team chips away at Valus Khazog's health with the assistance of Imperial Cabal allies before he ultimately retreats and is replaced by his brother, Valus Toruhn. After a certain threshold, he too retreats and his reinforcements arrive to attempt to deal with the Guardians. After the reinforcements are eliminated, the two brothers arrive to deal with the fireteam. The two will alternate turns attacking the fireteam until a quarter of their shared health, where both will engage the team at once. Both brothers are eliminated.

  • Zavala: Nicely done fireteam. You've avoided what could have been a catastrophe for the system. Perhaps even for the universe for all we know now.
  • Empress Caiatl: And a message has been sent to any who would dare ponder treachery in my own ranks. And perhaps what could come from our alliance. If we are to stop what the Witness is doing to the Traveler, however that may be, we must do it together.
  • Zavala: Indeed. After all, we are all stronger.
  • Empress Caiatl: Together.
