Hydras are a type of Vex. They are segmented machines that float through the air to attack; each segment bears its own turret, and these robotic centipedes fire those turrets as they wriggle through the air. They also utilize unidirectional defensive shields.

Overview

Hydras should be engaged with extreme caution. Not only are their circular shields impenetrable, they are also armed with dual Torch Hammers. These weapons are fired in rapid succession and thus will make short work of a Guardian's shield. Even after they are killed, they should still be kept at a distance, as their head will explode upon death. This explosion causes massive damage and can even kill Guardians. In addition to being formidable combatants, Hydras serve as major processing nodes for the Vex network.
