Atavist Illusions are Nightmares of Psions that be found on the Derelict Leviathan.

Gameplay

Atavist Illusions appear as part of Nightmare Containment. During the first two tiers, they will appear in the second phase, two in tier one and four in tier two. If the tier three boss is the Nightmare of Anaphex, Sworn to Otzot, three will appear every third of its health. They will roam the area, slipping behind their Loyalist reinforcements, and sniping at the players with their rifles. Once one is killed, the Egregore Atavist projecting it will appear, and be vulnerable.

Trivia

• In Season of the Deep, Elite Tracer Shanks and Heavy Shanks named "Atavist Illusion" appeared during certain Deep Dives. It is likely a developer oversight.
