“ | The story of a sword and its wielder.[1] | ” |
A Sword Reforged is a Quest in Destiny, composed of six steps, which rewards one of three Exotic Swords (Raze-Lighter, Dark-Drinker, or Bolt-Caster). The quest can be started by talking to Lord Shaxx while possessing a Legendary Sword which has been fully unlocked and raised to 280 Attack with Infusion.
Quest StepsEdit
Part 1Edit
Step 1: Honing the EdgeEdit
- "A scrap of ragged steel will cut down weeds. A sword such as this demands worthier challenges."
- — Lord Shaxx
Task: Use the Sword against powerful servants of the Darkness, and test it against Guardians in the Crucible.
Objective: Using a sword, kill 50 major enemies and 25 opponents in the Crucible.
Step 2: Test Your BladeEdit
- "The sword's Light is stronger, but its Darkness lingers. too. Perhaps Lord Shaxx will know how to purify it entirely."
- — Ghost
Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx.
Objective: Return to the Last City and approach Lord Shaxx.
Step 3: Blade of NightEdit
- "Nightstalker scouts aboard the Dreadnaught place Ecthar, Sword of Oryx, in the ship's Asylum. We'll need to defeat him to finish purifying your sword."
- — Ghost
Task: Draw out and defeat Ecthar, Sword of Oryx, in the Asylum on the Dreadnaught.
Objective: Go to Asylum while patrolling on the Dreadnaught and kill Ecthar.
Note: In order to reach Ecthar, a player must go to The Founts and kill the three major Knights guarding the door to Asylum. They must all be killed within a short window of each other or the door will not open. If you try and failed, go to orbit and try again. Should Ecthar be reached, he possesses a shield that can only be destroyed by a sword.
Step 4: Blade of DayEdit
- "I now detect only pure Light within the sword. We've made scientific history, Guardian! And to think all it took was a little bit of smashing stuff!"
- — Ghost
Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx
Objective: Return to the Last City and approach Lord Shaxx.
Part 2Edit
Step 1: Essential ElementsEdit
- "Your (Solar/Void/Arc) Edge is strong, but we can make it stronger. I'll need (Soliton Flares/Relic Crystals/Zeptocyte Cores), found within (Helium Filaments/Relic Iron/Spinmetal) on (the Moon/Mars/Earth). In the meantime, you must practice your (Solar/Void/Arc) powers."
- — Lord Shaxx
Task: Gather rare materials and attune your Light.
Objective: Obtain 10 Rare Planetary Materials. Obtain 500 Solar/Void/Arc ability Kills
Notes: When gathering rare materials, they cannot be gathered from chests. They can only be gathered from nodes in the field. Also, there is a very low drop rate, so this step can take several hours of continuous patrolling to gather all the materials. This make this step arguably the most time-consuming part of this quest—typically six to eight hours of continuous patrol. Ghost Shells with abilities for tracking whichever material you are searching for is helpful, but it will mark nodes and chests the same way. For Hunters, the Nightstalker ability Keen Scout can make finding nodes easier, since it cannot only point out nodes, but differentiate between nodes and chests as well. When gathering ability kills, Ultra Bosses count as five kills.
Step 2: In Good TemperEdit
Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx
Objective: Return to the Last City and approach Lord Shaxx.
Step 3: Armsday AlloysEdit
- "The alloys Lord Shaxx requires are listed in Cassoid Foundry's next Armsday shipment to the Tower. Good timing!"
- — Ghost
Task: Wait for delivery of Armsday materials.
Objective: Wait until the next Armsday and return to the Tower to continue the quest.
Step 4: Take Up ArmsEdit
- "The materials we needed to strengthen your sword should have arrived at Lord Shaxx's workshop by now!"
- — Ghost
Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx
Objective: Approach Lord Shaxx to continue the quest.
Step 5: Sealing the BladeEdit
- "The Wardens you seek are infamous devourers of the Light. Each has its own heinous preference. Together, they guard the Sunless Cell, where Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, languishes"
- — Eris Morn
TaskDefeat (Adleg/Heolstor/Thracu), Warden of Oryx, and then Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, within 30 seconds to seal your (Sol/Void/Arc) Edge.
Objective: Gather a fireteam and enter a special 300 Light version of The Sunless Cell strike. Once you reach the boss phase, kill the major Knight that has the corresponding shield that matches the sword you are attempting to acquire, and Alak-Hul within thirty seconds.
Notes: The best way to complete the challenge is to put Alak-Hul as close to defeat as possible, destroy the Knight, and finish off Alak-Hul. If Alak-Hul dies first, the challenge cannot be completed. Also, because the Knight must be spared, they will attack you throughout the fight. Alak-Hul will have heavily increased health, which makes moderating your damage more difficult if you attack the Knight too quickly. One Knight has a Cleaver, so it will chase you. Matchmaking will only occur if there are multiple people on the same stage of the quest.
Step 6: A Blade RebornEdit
- "You reclaimed Willbreaker, won it for the Light! Guardian, I…was wrong about that sword. Wrong about you. Perhaps even...wrong about myself."
- — Eris Morn
Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx
Objective: Approach Lord Shaxx and claim your sword.
