"These bad boys can attack from any range, shoot anyway you desire, and ammo isn't even a consideration"
The Drifter

Gunblades are powerful weapons capable of firing projectiles that depend on archetypes and frames or can change to a melee weapon that can be used at close range. They are under the energy weapon category. Unlike swords, Gunblade blades require multiple attacks to kill rank-and-file combatants. (Around 3-5 strikes)

Gunblade Types and Intrinsic TraitsEdit

Intrinsic Trait Available for Common in-game description Further details

Adaptive Frame

A well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. Fires like a rapid-fire scout rifle. As the description suggests, gunblades with an Adaptive Frame are generally the best well-rounded in their class, being effective at most ranges appropriate for the weapon type with a good rate of fire. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to preform a combination of slashes.

Aggressive Frame

High damage, high recoil. Fires like an aggressive shotgun. Aggressive Frame gunblades have a lower rate of fire but have increased damage and recoil. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to preform a flurry of shotgun blasts.

High-Impact Frame

Slow-firing and high-damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary and aiming down sights. Fires like an aggressive sniper rifle. Contrary to the description, High-Impact Frame gunblades actually grant their accuracy bonus when crouched, similar to the Firmly Planted perk. High-Impact Frame gunblades have a slower rate of fire than other gunblades, made up for with their higher damage. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to preform a powerful stab attack that will knockback any enemy directly hit by the attack.

Lightweight Frame

Superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. Fires like a rapid-fire pulse rifle. Lightweight Frame gunblades have a generally higher rate of fire for their class. The movement speed boost can be used to close the gap in combat to take advantage of the rate of fire from a closer range. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to preform a stinger attack.

Precision Frame

Recoil pattern on this weapon is more predictably vertical. Fires like a slug-shotgun. Precision Frame gunblades have a somewhat lower rate of fire, for easier recoil control over long distances. Precision Frame gunblades generally have a moderately longer to the longest range in their class. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to cause the blade to vibrate. Vibrated blades deal bonus damage to targets but require precise timing to get the best benefit.

Rapid-Fire Frame

Deeper ammo reserves. Slightly faster reload when magazine is empty. Fires like a rapid-fire Auto Rifle. Rapid-Fire Frame gunblades have the highest rate of fire of any other weapon in their class, making them best suited for closer ranged combat or laying down a barrage of fire. When using blade mode, Press [Heavy] to preform a barrage of stabs, hold [Heavy] to continuously preform the barrage until either [Heavy] is let go or ammo is completely drained.
