Haaksis was an Eliksni Baron from the House of Rain who lived on Riis before the Whirlwind.[1]
Biography[edit]
When he was young, Haaksis desired to become a Ketch pilot, and stole a scout-ship to prove himself. He subsequently became lost, and landed on an unknown world in or nearby Riis' solar system. There, he discovered an abandoned city, at the center of which was a "ship like a blade". He found a spherical metallic artifact while exploring the city, which spoke to him in his mind and helped him to navigate his way back to Riis.[2]
As Haaksis grew into adulthood, he continued to hear the artifact's voice in his head, telling him of the useless struggle of life, and of an impending doom that would befall the Eliksni. In an attempt to rid himself of the voice, Haaksis cast the artifact into a river; however, it was eaten by a river-catcher, which became corrupted by an unknown force emanating from the artifact. The corrupted river-catcher then began to stalk Haaksis' farm and kill his people, causing Haaksis to enlist the services of the Slayer Barons to defeat the beast.
After the Slayer Baron Kiiraskes and her apprentice Irrha killed the creature and destroyed the artifact, Haaksis continued to hear the voice, driving him to madness and desperation. After recounting the story of how he discovered the artifact to the Slayers, Haaksis suddenly lunged at Irrha, forcing Kiiraskes to subdue and kill him.[2]
