Taming the Storm is a Destiny 2 quest introduced in Season of the Deep. It acquaints the Guardian with the Arc subclass.
Steps[edit]
Step 1[edit]
Ikora Rey will be your guide as you train your Light. Follow her instructions, and harness the chaotic river of Arc.
- Speak with Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar.
"Clarity of purpose in all things, Guardian. Your mind, body, and will must be as one." —Ikora
Ikora looks up at your approach. "You have already felt the chaotic surge of Arc Light. It is only the start to a deeper understanding."
"There are many applications of Arc, but I want you to focus on the ability to jolt. Jolted targets will chain lightning to others nearby; an excellent way to clear the battlefield quickly."
Ikora gives you an encouraging smile. "Be patient, Guardian. Arc Light can be chaotic and demanding. Return when you have more experience with Jolt, and I will guide you down the path of greater power."
Step 2[edit]
Arc only flows between opposite poles; the greater the gulf between those poles, the greater your power will be.
- With an Arc subclass equipped, defeat targets affected by Jolt, defeat targets with abilities, and cast your Super.
Some Arc abilities will jolt your targets. As the jolted target takes additional damage, it chains lightning to other nearby targets.
To make progress, equip abilities, aspects, fragments, or gear with the Jolt keyword. For example, the Spark of Shock Fragment adds a Jolt effect to your Arc grenades.
"You must remain disciplined while embracing unfettered chaos. If that sounds confusing… it is." —Ikora
Step 3[edit]
Your Ghost's scans detect a source of Arc energy in the Cosmodrome. The Servitors in Exodus Garden 2A seem to be guarding it. Investigate, and bring anything you find back to Ikora.
- Complete the Lost Sector Exodus Garden 2A in the Cosmodrome, and loot the Lost Sector chest.
- Lost Sector chest looted
"Meditation will only take you so far. To truly understand Arc, you must allow it to race through your very soul." —Ikora
- Notes
The Guardian retrieves an Electroweak Battery from the chest.
Step 4[edit]
Ikora will surely take an interest in the object you found in the Cosmodrome. It gathers ambient Arc energy from its surroundings.
- Speak with Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar.
Some Guardians say that Arc Light sings to them: a persistent, crackling hum that is never silenced.
Ikora puzzles over the strange object you found in the Cosmodrome.
"You unearthed this on your own? Fascinating. I suspect that your recent practice with Arc may have drawn you to the Lost Sector. The technology of the Fallen is, in some ways, an attempt to replicate the unbridled power of Arc."
"Indulge my curiosity for a moment, Guardian. Since you subdued the Servitors in the Lost Sector, you should make quick work of Sepiks Prime, the Servitor hiding in the Devils' Lair. Test your Light against the machine's strength."
Ikora gives you a small but genuine smile. "Don't worry, I wouldn't send you without adequate preparation."
She presents you with a piece of armor. Energy surges through your fingers when you hold it.
"Use this armor to supplement your own Arc abilities. When you have triumphed—and I have no doubt that you will—speak with Banshee-44. He'll make sure you're rewarded for your efforts."
- Notes
The Guardian recieves Dunemarchers, The Sixth Coyote, or Crown of Tempests depending on their class.
Step 5[edit]
Ikora believes you are ready for a final test of your Arc Light. Find the Devils' Lair in the Cosmodrome, and unleash the storm against their Prime Servitor.
- Equip your Arc subclass and new Exotic armor.
If you no longer have access to your Exotic, it can be reacquired from Collections.- Arc subclass equipped
- Dunemarchers Lightequipped (Titan only)
- The Sixth Coyote equipped (Hunter only)
- Crown of Tempests equipped (Warlock only)
"Take care not to overreach. Arc backlash is unpleasant, even at the best of times." —Ikora
Step 6[edit]
Ikora believes you are ready for a final test of your Arc Light. Find the Devils' Lair in the Cosmodrome, and unleash the storm against their Prime Servitor.
- Complete the strike "The Devils' Lair" in the Cosmodrome with your (Arc) Arc subclass and new Exotic armor equipped..
- "The Devils' Lair" completed
"Storm without, calm within." —Osiris
Step 7[edit]
Even the taciturn Banshee-44 has heard of your recent victories with Arc Light. Your reputation grows, as does your arsenal.
- Speak with Banshee-44 in the Tower Courtyard.
"Light's nice, but come find me when you need something with a little more kick." —Banshee-44
Banshee-44 seems to be expecting you. "So you're the one who blew up that old Servitor? Good riddance, that thing's better off as scrap."
"Got something for you. Ikora said you needed an Arc weapon." The weapon that he hands you looks untouched, fresh from the armory. "This can jolt, just like you. Should play well with your armor and abilities."
Banshee goes back to his work, but not without a parting word. "Bit of advice, Guardian. Get used to seeing Ikora if you want to keep learning."
Check back with Ikora to continue learning about your Light, including learning about other Aspects, Fragments, abilities, and keywords.
- Notes
The Guardian recieves Combined Action.
