Gameplay

An Obdurate Phalanx first appears guarding the entrance to the Ahamkara lair. To both damage and see the symbol above it, walk over the blue paracausal sparks to gain the Sire's Obligation buff, which lasts for 44 seconds. Once the Obdurate Phalanx is killed, the entrance to the lair will open.

When you enter the lair, three Obdurate Phalanxes will spawn, each with three different symbols. Walk over the blue paracausal sparks and gain the Sire's Obligation buff once more. Kill the Obdurate Phalanxes in the correct order, killing them will spawn Vex reinforcements. Once all of the Phalanx's are slain in the correct order, the encounter is complete and the entrance to further traverse the lair will open.

To deactivate the barrier to confront Akardon, Pitiless Mind, players must kill Obdurate Phalanxes in the correct order once more. However, two of the Phalanx's are within areas that will damage the player. To enter these areas and damage the Phalanxes, players must walk over the blue and orange paracausal sparks to gain the Crowned by Dragons buff, which also lasts for 44 seconds. Once all the Phalanx's are slain in the correct order the encounter is complete.
