When editing talk pages and forum posts, you should sign your edits so the author of a particular comment can be quickly identified. To sign your edit just put ~~~~ after your post. When the page is saved, Destinypedia will convert the ~~~~ to your username and the time and date you posted.

You should not sign your edits on articles as article content represents the contributions of many users.

Customizing your signature

Here's how to create a signature:

Base creation

1. Create a page for your signature here.

2. Edit the page and insert this text:

Username

replacing "Username" with your username.

Customization

If you want your name to be colored or have a different font, insert this text instead of the text in number two:

Username

If you want to link to your talk page and your contributions page, insert this text after the text in numbers two or three:

(talk · edits)

Once you have the signature created the way you want it, save the edit. Then go to your preferences page. Be sure to follow all rules outlined in Destinypedia:Signature Policy.

Preparing for usage

Once you are at your preferences page, change the text in the "Signature" box to this:

Make sure the "Rawsigcheckbox.png Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)" option is checked, and save your preferences.

Usage

Now that your signature is set up, know how to use it:

Code Turns into Appears as Mainly used for
~~~ User (talk | contribs) welcoming
~~~~ 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) User (talk | contribs) 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) talk pages
~~~~~ 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) welcoming, recording of date and time
Signature Policy
Be sure to check the Signature Policy page before customizing your own signature, so you don't create a disrupting signature which may damage surrounding text formatting.
