Trace rifles are powerful rifles capable of firing singular, concentrated energy beams that can be focused down upon multiple targets at once. They are under the energy weapon category. The only known Traces rifles in Destiny 2 are Coldheart and Prometheus Lens which can be infused with auto rifles.
