7 Iris is an asteroid in the asteroid belt.[citation needed]
History
During the Reef Wars, it was the site of the Battle of Iris. The Silent Fang, Skolas' elite assassin unit led by Drevis, previously attacked an Awoken space station called Amethyst.[1] Paladin Abra Zire gave chase to the Silent Fang to Iris, where they engaged a Wolf Ketch. To their surprise, however, it was not Drevis' ship, but Parixas'. Grayor and the Fang had tricked the Awoken into defeating Skolas' last rival.[2] With Skolas as sole claimant to the throne, he declared himself the Kell of Wolves.[3][4][5][6]
Trivia
Iris was named after the rainbow goddess Iris in Greek mythology, who was a messenger to the gods, especially Hera. Her quality of attendant of Hera was particularly appropriate to the circumstances of discovery, as she was spotted following 3 Juno by less than an hour of right ascension (Juno is the Roman equivalent of Hera).[7]
