Exotic Shards are an exotic upgrade material used to fully upgrade Exotic armor and weapons. They can be purchased from Xûr for seven Strange Coins, or gained from disassembling exotic gear. Dismantling a fully upgraded Exotic weapon or armor gives two Exotic shards. Exotic shards are also used to Ascend Exotic gear to the maximum Attack/Defense value for Year 1. For Year 2 weapons and armor one Exotic Shard is required for Infusion.
