- "A floating light, a sleepless eye. Their hope, their faith, their sustenance."
- — Grimoire description.
Servitors are large, spherical floating machines used by the Fallen as support units in combat.[1] They are forged in the Traveler's image.[2]
Overview
Servitors are spherical, built of of dark metal in a shape reminiscent of the Great Machine. They all have a central purple glowing eye, but other than that the common Servitor has no distinguishing features or liveries that link it to their House. They are capable of flight, and hover as their main method of travel, however, this seems to be a function of their shell, as the cores of Servitors can be found stripped of their armor and incapable of movement, but still reacting to their surroundings. The desperation of modern Fallen Houses can be seen in the state they keep their Servitors, as the House of Dusk and House of Salvation have reduced the amount of plating dedicated to their protection, leaving more of the Servitor's circuitry exposed.
While they support Fallen in battle, the Servitors' main function is to process matter and energy into Ether for the Fallen's sustenance. Apart of that, they serve a number of supportive roles, like comms anchors and technological acuity. They also serve as navigation aids for Fallen Ketches, and possibly Skiffs.[3] Some Servitors also serve as personal support and ship pilots for High-ranking Fallen.[4][5][6]
There are more powerful Servitors known as High Servitors. Above High Servitors are Prime Servitors, the highest form of Servitor known. Prime Servitors take the place of a god among the Fallen, as they also produce multiple Servitors and major tons of Ether. With this, each Fallen House having their own Prime Servitor. Certain Servitors function as pilots, and are called Pilot Servitors.[7]
Gameplay
Servitors' primary usage in combat is to support accompanying Fallen units by emitting a purple glow, giving them a nourishing boost.[8] To evade incoming attacks and flank their targets, Servitors will occasionally teleport short distances. They are shown to be a resilient threat and are capable of firing powerful blasts of Void energy from their eye, which is also a weak spot. They frequently try to protect this weak spot when in combat, making them difficult targets. In Destiny 2, Servitors have switched their nourishing boost with the ability to generate tethers toward nearby Fallen units, granting them complete immunity to incoming damage. They also gain Void shields in high difficulty activities.
Also of note is the fact that Minor Servitors are a relatively rare sight outside of Patrol. These enemies are often encountered as Elite, Majors, or even as the final Ultra of an Activity, gaining additional abilities and mechanics. Boss Servitors don't use the Ultra Smash common to other bosses, but instead gain a powerful short ranged melee vortex emitted by their eye, which quickly drains the health of the targeted player.

Trivia
- Along with Fallen Walkers, Shanks, Harpies and Dregs, Servitors are among the only enemy types to not get a Taken version.
- However, Chimera are Taken entities that appear to be former Fallen Servitors fused with living flesh.
- In Destiny 2, new death animations were added to the Servitors including elemental deaths and Major Servitors now share the Ultra Servitor death animation, however, it is much faster and there is no death screech.
- The Heavy Shank S.A.B.E.R.-2 is made from parts of Servitors.
- In Beyond Light, Eramis, Kell of Darkness uses Stasis to freeze a Servitor before destroying it. Before being destroyed, the ice that covered it made it bear a slight resemblance to the blue fur of Sonic the Hedgehog, therefore being nicknamed Servi the Hedgitor.
