Nightmare of Taniks, the Scarred
From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki
- "Years ago, Taniks tore the Vanguard apart over a mere bounty. Andal Brask was murdered in cold blood, and the Hunter Vanguard was left without a leader. Taniks would ultimately die on the orders of Cayde-6. But the scars he left among all Guardians would never fully heal. Once again, the Pyramid takes advantage of our collective pain. We will not succumb."
- — Eris Morn
The Nightmare of Taniks, the Scarred is the Nightmare form of the infamous Fallen mercenary and murderer: Taniks, the Scarred. Recreated with the power of the Darkness by the Lunar Pyramid, it serves as the Aspect of Isolation.[1][2]
Gameplay
Taniks is the third nightmare you hunt during the campaign of Shadowkeep, found within the Temple of Crota. Much like his living counterpart, it will first be encountered in an early area of the Hunt. The Nightmare will fight the player by firing his Scorch Cannon, teleporting around the area, and occasionally getting close for an Ultra Smash, while his Fallen and Major Nightmare reinforcements join in the fight. Once brough down a third of his health, the Nightmare will activate his immunity, summon several Dregs, Vandals and Shanks with powerful Solar Absorption Shields, and retreat deeper in the area.
Taniks' Nightmare must be pursued to the area with the lift to the Traitor's Ketch, where he will confront you with more reinforcements. He will fight much like before, but the smaller arena makes it harder to dodge the explosions of his cannon. at the last third of its health, he will again become immune and summon powerful Nightmare Fallen, which must be killed to make him vulnerable. Deal with the last third of his health, and the Hunt will be over.
The Nightmare of Taniks will also appear as one of the Final Nightmares fought in the Altars of Sorrow, where he will mostly stand still in front of the Scarlet Keep, pelting the Guardians with his Scorch Cannon.

Trivia
- Due to the real Taniks's history of cheating death, and his resurrection during the Deep Stone Crypt Raid[3] in Beyond Light, this Nightmare is among the few that represent—or in this case, previously represented—a living enemy, alongside the Nightmare of the Fanatic, who has been resurrected multiple times with the power of Dark Ether and Ahamkara wish-magic.
