Template:Species Infobox The Hive is one of the races encountered among the ruins of humanity's interplanetary empire. Prior to their name being officially announced at the 2013 GDC, they were referred to as "evil space zombies". This suggests that they are a form of "undead;" However, their bones are too big to be human, too small to be Cabal, and without enough arms to be Fallen, making their species a mystery. [1]
Biology
Members of the Hive appear to be uniformly pale, sinewy and skeletal in appearance. They seem to lack visible eyes, although some have been seen with glowing patterns that resemble eyes.
Several varieties exist: a roughly human-sized variant, known as a "Thrall", a somewhat larger version known as a "Knight"[2] and a larger, vaguely feminine variant with elaborate armor and ornamentation. Judging from the "Hive" moniker, this second variant may represent some leader or "queen" caste.
Additionally, a Hive Mini-Boss, named "Phogoth" appears as an objective in a mission given to players.[2]
