Louis is a golden eagle, and is the animal companion of Guardian associate Suraya Hawthorne.

Trivia

Louis is the first named animal character in the Destiny series.
There was a glitch in the first year of Destiny 2 where, in the interact screen with Suraya, Louis would occasionally start vibrating rapidly. Why this happened is unknown however this since has been patched.
Louis is seen in the game's introduction as a manifestation of light, flying towards the traveler. This would implicate there might be "ghosts" occupying more than just shells in the game as Louis could be viewed as Saraya Hawthorne's ghost.
