"History is a question of armor. What will it take to kill us?"
Fieldplate Type 1 blurb

Armor is featured in Destiny, with a wide assortment. Each type of armor will have their own bonuses and abilities that are meant to be synergistic with the player's focus and weapons. Destiny will feature class-specific armor as well as general armor.[1]

There are five different pieces of armor: Helmet, Gauntlets, Chest Armor, Leg Armor, and Class Armor. The last slot, class armor, is unique to each class; Hunters get cloaks, Warlocks get bonds, and Titans get Marks.[2] Colors (including dyes) and decals are/will be available.[3] Class armor offers no increase to defense and is mostly aesthetic, but higher-ranking class armors are larger and more ornate than default or other lower-ranking ones. For example, a Hunter will start out with a plain white scarf without a hood, but can acquire a more decorative hooded cloak, especially one that distinguishes certain achievements.[4]

Rarity of armor is color coordinated into four tiers: Basic (white), Uncommon (green), Rare (blue), Legendary (purple), and Exotic (gold).[1]
