The Battle of Kaga-Clipse was an eight week long battle between Calus's Loyalists forces, and the Clipse.[2]

History[edit]

The Battle of Kaga-Clipse started after Calus and the Leviathan came to the Clipse's homeworld and invited them to join his Loyalists. The Clipse refused, attacking the ship with missiles in response.[3][2] One of Calus's councilors, Match, believed that the Clipse were defying the Emperor in an attempt to earn the favor of Dominus Ghaul after he abandoned their people when his attempts to assist the Clipse's war against their alien-infested biosphere. In response, Calus ordered Valus Nohr to plan and execute the reconquest of the Clipse using the Leviathan's weapons and troops.[2]

Nohr would lead a thousand Loyalist troops to assault Kaga-Clipse, the Clipse homeworld's moon and military capital. For eight weeks, the Clipse attacked Nohr from the ground and orbit. Meanwhile, the Loyalist Psions used a great Metaconcert to shield the Leviathan from the Clipse's interceptors.[2] During the battle, Nohr would lose one of her arms.[4] Eventually, Nohr would begin her famous "thunder run", calling down the Leviathan's missiles to strike vital Clipse command posts, crumbling their defense and ultimately claiming Kaga-Clipse.[4]

In a last-ditch effort, the Clipse would launch a commando strike on the Leviathan, sending their best warriors. Calus welcomed the attempt, seeing it as an opportunity to find someone of the Clipse to become one of his Shadows. In the end, all but one of the warriors died in the assault. The survivor, Rull, was the only one to reach Calus' throne room, where he accepted Calus' offer to become one of his Shadows.[2][5]

With the war over, Calus provided Rull with the means of ending the Clipse' endless war. He had arcologies capable of holding thousands of Clipse constructed and, once Rull had selected his chosen people, ordered their homeworld bombarded by Kaga-Clipse's guns in a global firestorm.[2]
