Krakens are large and powerful Vex units first encountered on Ganymede.
Overview
Krakens are Vex units, with four double-jointed legs ending in spiked feet. Their most notable feature is their elongated heads and multiple radiolarian cores. Krakens make their first appearance on Ganymede and can be found in various activities such Strikes, Olympian Hunts, Missions, Patrols, the Fall of Olympus raid, and the Spire Integration Public Event. Thus far, they do not seem to be findable anywhere else in the system.
Gameplay
They appear to be a hybrid of a Hydra and a Minotaur and have many weapons, where they use their cannons and missiles, then switch to their mortar to strike down any more far off or stronger opponents. The force of this attack will freeze all nearby combatants, both friend and foe and deal Stasis damage.
Krakens, if left unattended and undamaged, will use its Orbital Drop where it jumps up high into the air (around 100-200 ft) and drops down onto any unsuspecting enemies. They also create a circular shield to prevent damage, and when the shield is broken, it will coat itself with radiolaria to prevent melee damage.
Krakens are highly durable and are equipped with two high caliber Solar Cannons mounted on their bodies. This fires balls of Solar energy that deal a great deal of splash damage. They also have a missile turret that fire Chrono Missiles that deal lots of damage. If an enemy is far away it will fire its Stasis Mortar which creates zones that slow targets that are caught in it, staying too long in these zones will freeze a target in place. Unlike stasis, "stopped time" cannot be broken out of and has to be waited out.
Krakens also possess multiple Radiolaria cores which must all be destroyed in order to kill one. By destroying each radiolarian core, Krakens are briefly staggered and are able to be damaged further.

Trivia
- Like most Vex, Krakens are named after a mythological creature; kraken is a sea monster of gigantic size and cephalopod-like appearance in Scandinavian folklore.
- It is entirely possible that the Vex are now beginning to use their warrior frames as oppose to builder frames due to how combat-oriented krakens seem to be. Emperor Calus notes that the Vex previously encountered by the Guardians are "farmers, engineers and managers" and laughs at the idea of when the Vex will send their "real warriors".
