"And those Binary Star idiots, too. Trinary? Binary? Whatever."
— Tallulah Fairwind[1]

The Binary Star Cult is a group that holds the belief that the Traveler itself triggered the Collapse, and used humanity as a sacrifice/proxy army in its war against the Darkness. This belief is considered heretical by others.[2] The group took part in the Faction Wars and, according to Tallulah Fairwind, the Hunter Vanguard at the time, had resorted to outright violence.[1]

Trivia

  • A Hunter cloak called "Cult/Trinary Star" bears the description "The mark of the Trinary Star, the hidden cult who curse the Traveler's light". It is possible that the Binary Star and Trinary Star are the same group given the similarities of their beliefs, and the slight difference in names stems from a developer oversight.
  • Tallulah Fairwind also seemed confused as to what was the official name of the faction.[1]
  • Though only mentioned in gear and in Grimoire, the Binary Star Cult has yet to be mentioned by NPC's and make an actual appearance in-game.
