Kelgorath, Risen from Bones is a Ascendant Hive Wrathborn Knight who swore loyalty to Xivu Arath, God of War. He scoured the Ley Lines that surrounded the Dreaming City in pursuit of Savathûn and the Awoken artifact Ager's Scepter.
Biography
Kelgorath belonged to the Hidden Swarm and had pledged his loyalty to Savathûn, the Witch Queen. However, when the Guardian Osiris wiped out the last of Crota's daughters and grandchildren, he became disillusioned by both her failure to protect her subjects as well as her continued heresies against the Black Fleet. Kelgorath turned to the Witch Queen's sister Xivu Arath, God of War instead, who had avenged their death by trapping Osiris and ultimately stripping him of Light through Sagira's death. He scoured his scarlet armor and joined the Wrathborn to pledge his life to war. Kelgorath constructed a shrine made out of bones to Xivu Arath within the Ascendant Plane to direct his tribute and worship. Within his new lair Kelgorath placed the skulls of many foes who had challenged him and perished to his blade.[1]
During his service to Xivu Arath he fought a Guardian who killed him several times. Kelgorath relentlessly pursued his foe and eventually slew the Guardian and their Ghost. He took the Ghost's shell as a trophy and gifted its core to several Wizards who had also defected from the Hidden Swarm into Xivu Arath's service. Kelgorath later began hunting Techeuns who had been scattered across the Ascendant Plane through Ley Lines while escorting Queen Mara Sov back to the Dreaming City. Upon cornering one of the Techeuns after tracking the scent of her fear for three days, she used her magic to bring part of the Ascendant Plane down upon him. After being reborn once more Kelgorath hunted her down once more and survived when she attempted the same trick once again. As he prepared to end the tech witch's life, she mocked him for the traces of scarlet that remained in his armor and how easily he had abandoned service to Savathûn. In response Kelgorath ripped the crystal implants from her forehead and added them to his trophies.[1]
While preparing to face a challenge from the Knight Hurdru, who still remained loyal to Savathûn, Kelgorath painted his own blood upon his shrine to Xivu Arath. Reflecting upon his past victories, Kelgorath vowed to make Hurdru an example of what would happen to those who remained loyal to the Witch Queen and to ensure her name was erased in favor of the God of War.[1]
When Savathûn was spotted in the Dreaming City, Kelgorath led a force of Hive in pursuit. However, he was defeated by the Young Wolf, who was unknowingly following the same target.[2] When that same Guardian laid claim to Ager's Scepter, Kelgorath led a raiding party into the Dozmary Vault with the goal to steal the weapon. Despite vastly outnumbering the Young Wolf, he was once again slain in battle by the Guardian.[3]
Gameplay
In the mission Cocoon, Kelgorath wields a Hive Cleaver, and is supported by a number of Taken forces. At specific health intervals he will become immune and summon Taken Wizards which need to be killed to strip him of his immunity.
In A Hollow Coronation, he is much larger and wields a Bommer instead of a sword. Supported by a considerable force of Hive soldiers, he will periodically throw Acolyte Grenades, but aside from his large health pool has no little defensive capabilities.
