Grenade: This is rather subjective for the most part given that different people may enjoy different things. For the purpose of optimizing your subclass, I recommend axion bolt, given it it will synergize well with the recommendations I am going to make.
Movement: I recommend focused burst for the greatest control of movement and the most effective evasive and practical movement in all aspects. You may prefer blink, but for the purpose of being able to move and fight at the same time and being able to recover from jumps that would overwise kill you. I believe focused burst has a lot more applications such as "Gliding" with relics and swords, "b-hopping" and over alternative innovative methods of movement.
Nova Bomb: I would 100% recommend shatter for nova for the simple reason that it has the most applications and covers all areas. It's great for clearing lots of small adds. It has the best damage, providing that you hit all 3 nova bombs on the target and the blast can be manipulated. When using your ability, you can either turn your camera to the left or right a short second after activating your super and before firing off your nova to either spread your nova across a wide field (Look left) or narrow the spread for greater single target/ focused damage (look right). This method will take some practice but even without this being applied you will find the greatest results with shatter. One useful application would be against Major (Yellow Bar) Enemies in raids and high level missions, to which only a few supers can kill in a single hit. (Shockwave fist of havoc, shatter nova and celestial nighthawk golden gun)
Melee: This is very much dependent on what you use in terms of exotic. The best option would be to use life steal given it allows you to heal when you melee an enemy which keeps you alive and reduces down time so you can keep fighting and survive (this is very useful) If you are using the ram (which I HIGHLY recommend, I cannot stress this enough, unbias opinion, it is amazing if uses correctly) I would recommend soul rip given all melees (with small cooldown on the ability, while using void walker) will proc life steal (energy drain not included) This will help you to get back your nova bomb which means you can use your ability more often which helps to clear large adds and stay alive.
Training: For this you will want to have Arcane Spirit(from the first training skill tree) and divine order(from the second skill tree). This will provide the max recovery and very high armor. Agility does not matter, for this setup and for general use of void walker you will learn to survive, not to run away. If you keep moving and keep killing you will survive.
Perk 1: For perk 1 you will lean towards one option or the other. Annihilate is what I use personally given I like the extra blast radius on my nova bomb, for maximum effect but I would recommend that you try out the hunger if you enjoy using your abilities a lot. The hunger increases energy drain, which means that your ability will regenerate for longer when energy drain is activated which is important for this build. If you feel you want more of a kick from your nova and can handle your abilities well then you can use the former.
Perk 2: For perk 2 you will want to use embrace the void. This is by far the most important ability for the build. This allows you to activate energy drain on grenade and nova bomb kills and with each kill it will instantly start up your recovery and heal you. So what this means is if you are low, you can throw a grenade/melee/nova, this will heal you, active energy drain and generate your abilities again. If you use tier 4 discipline, you can throw a grenade and it will fully regenerate given you are using hunger or alternatively, use tier 5. This means you can stay in the fight, keep your abilities up and keep healing if you are low. All this ties together very nicely and allows for maximum offensive ability, uptime and survivability.
Exotic weapon recommendation: You can use whatever you want and you'll have very good results. If you are looking for recommendations though, bad juju is a great option. with kills you generate a small amount of super and kills refills your weapon magazine. This allows for faster nova bomb generation and less reloading which means less downtime.
Alternatively an exotic heavy weapon such as raze lighter of gjallarhorn (Dragons breath, dark drinker, bolt caster, young wolves howl, sleeper simulant all work fine) and a shotgun (or fusion if you'd like) work very well with pumping out very good close quarter damage to keep on top of adds.
Exotic armor recommendation: There are 3 main recommendations I would give. Obsidian mind, this will allow for rapid nova bomb regeneration for high damage output, it's a lot of fun and pairs well with bad juju. Nothing manacles are an amazing choice, paired with high discipline and The hunger (scatter grenade recommended) They provide extremely good constant damage and health generation from seemingly endless grenades. This is an amazing setup to dish out very high damage and constant healing from energy drain. Then there is the ram. The ram is a very a helmet that is appreciated a lot but not always for the right reasons. The ram provides increased armor, which allows you to take more hits and keep moving. This ability is amazing, it allows you to survive things no other class can, it's very good. The ram can also activate life steal on any regular void walker melee (given the ability isn't on a cooldown) I personally have survived hundreds of times where I would overwise die. This fits very well with an aggressive style where you are encouraged to constantly push forward and get right up into the face of your foe.
This has been my breakdown of the void walker subclass, this is what I recommend. If you have any questions you can message me via the website or you can contact me on Xbox live. My name on Xbox is DlDACT (That's didact with an L) thankyou and good luck to you my fellow warlocks.

Destiny 1 void walker discussion

Nova Bomb

Although it says that the lance nova bomb increases the damage of the ability, the shatter nova bomb provides the greatest damage, providing all 3 of the projectiles hit the intended target. Although I preach freedom to live by their own choices, to do as they wish and not what others desired one to do, I do suggest for the best experience you use shatter.

Suggestion for Void walker.

When setting up your void walker subclass, these are the steps I would take to experience the full power of the void.
