Leona Bryl was an Awoken Paladin and a member of the Queen's seven Paladins, as well as one of the four Armada Paladins.[1]
Biography
Bryl participated in the Reef Wars, notably helping break the Siege of Pallas. After the Techeuns created an illusion of the Harbingers that caused the House of Wolves fleet to scatter, Bryl attacked the fleeing Fallen with her armada alongside the forces of Paladin Kamala Rior and Commander Hallam Fen. The battle ended with the Wolves routed and the capture of Pirsis, Pallas-Bane.[2] Following the victory at Pallas, Bryl helped to capture Skolas with the other Armada Paladins when the Wolf Kell attempted to assault the Awoken's military fortress on Cybele. Thanks to information provided by Variks, Bryl and the other Paladins ambushed Skolas in a pincer maneuver which led to his defeat after a short but heated battle, effectively bringing an end to the Reef Wars.[3]
When the denizens of The Last City began the Great Ahamkara Hunt, the Reef provided them weapons to hunt the creatures at the behest of Queen Mara Sov's own Ahamkara, Riven. Bryl visited the Wall of Wishes in the Dreaming City and reflected upon these events, as she was wary of Riven and the Queen's desire to have the only remaining Ahamkara in existence as a member of her court and what would happen should the Vanguard ever discover Riven's existence.[4]
Decades after the Hunt, Bryl attended a ceremony in the Hall of Names where Corsair Petra Venj was elevated to the rank of Queen's Wrath. She shared a cynical look with Paladin Pavel Nolg, as many of the Paladins regarded Petra as too young and inexperienced to replace Sjur Eido as Wrath.[5]
Bryl was presumed dead in the aftermath of the Battle of Saturn when Oryx fired the Dreadnaught's superweapon.[6] However, she later returned to the Reef alive and was a supporter of Regent-Commander Petra Venj, whom Bryl requested to formally take Queenship of the Reef despite opposition from several other Paladins.[7]
