**Vortex Grenade: "A grenade that creates a Vortex which continually damages enemies trapped inside."
::This grenade is the Void Damage over Time grenade for Warlocks, used for area denial in close quarters situations by throwing it into tight corridors, or to sap slower, stronger enemies who cannot immediately leave its sphere of effect.
:*Scatter Grenade: "A grenade that splits into many submunitions and covers a large area with explosions."
::This grenade is the splitting grenade type for Warlocks, dealing void damage. The initial grenade throw out a large number of smaller grenades at once from its epicentre, that will explode fractions of a second apart, dealing colossal damage to one opponent, or staggering a large group, readying them for flanking or charging.
:*Axion Bolt: "A bolt of void light which forks into smaller bolts on impact which seek towards enemies."
::This is the "Fire and Forget" void grenade for Warlocks, which when thrown deals no initial damage, but spawns two small balls of void light, which will actively hunt down enemies, useful for forcing enemies out of cover, or discovering the locations of stragglers detected on your radar. Can be upgraded with the Exotic chest armour Voidfang Vestments to gain an additional seeker ball.
*Melee - Energy Drain
::"A powerful melee attack which drains energy from enemies and uses it to reduce the cooldown of your grenade"
::This melee attack has increased damage, and contains a small element of Damage over Time. It can be upgraded to allow a large speed boost to characters who get a killing blow with the ability, to heal one full bar's worth of the player's health on a successful hit, or to have the energy drain effect also cool down their Nova Bomb.
*Jump
**Glide - Extends jumps in a similar way to a parachute when used as the character is falling, maintaining altitude if used at the apex of their jump, or extending the overall high and distance if the ability is used with a double tap of the jump button. This ability can be upgraded to allow for either greater control mid-flight to reach tricky ledges, or to grant an initial burst of speed, throwing the player further to allow them very sudden course changes after jumping, or to bridge jumps that were otherwise mere feet out of range.
**Blink - This ability replaces Glide, and allows the character to instantly travel roughly three meters further in the direction they are travelling, but not through solid objects or enemies. If no direction is held, the character will travel directly up, with a limited capacity for course correction onto ledges after Blinking. This ability is useful for making yourself harder to lock as a target, as any tracking projectiles will not bank fast enough if they were already roughly five or less meteres away, and for rapidly closing in on a target for a finishing blow.

*Sunsinger - A support-focused class for buffing teammates. Unlocked at level 15.

Also Buffs and revives nearby allies.
Sunsinger
*:Grenades - Solar Flare: Conjure the power of the sun and release it like a grenade. This has since been shown in the various E3 Gameplay demos to be an actual grenade.
A support-focused class for buffing teammates. Unlocked at level 15.
*:Jump - Glide
*Super - Radiance: Fill yourself with Solar Light, dramatically increasing the effectiveness of all your abilities. This Super ability will create an aura around the player, charging their grenade and melee attacks much faster, and can be upgrade to either share the effect to allies in your aura, reduce incoming damage, or create a phoenix-like effect where it can be used whilst dead, bringing you back to life.
*Grenades
**Solar Grenade: "Conjure the power of the sun and release it like a grenade".
::This grenade is the Solar Damage over Time grenade for warlocks, used for area denial in close quarters situations and to sap slower, stronger enemies.
:*Firebolt Grenade: "A grenade that unleashes bolts of Solar Light at nearby enemies."
::This grenade is similar to the Axion Bolt Grenade, in that it may be thrown with the intention of damaging several enemies with unknown locations. Although it fires Solar damage projectiles that travel almost instantly, this does come at the cost of the grenade's epicentre needing line of sight on enemies to hit them. The grenade will still, however, attempt to hit a target it cannot reach, provided they are within range, and so enemy positions can be detected this way.
:*Fusion Grenade: "An explosive grenade that causes bonus damage when attached to its target."
::This grenade is a standard area of effect weapon, with the capability to attach to enemies, dealing Solar damage to them, and anyone around them. This grenade can be thrown at a slow moving, larger enemy to damage it's entourage, or to force them to take cover, opening them up to attack, or it can be attached to a faster enemy, forcing them to either damage their allies or disperse them, saving you from a pack assault.
*Melee - Scorch
::"A powerful melee that ignites enemies, causing damage over time."
::This melee is useful against shielded enemies to ensure they do not recharge for a short period, and against larger enemies that need their health taking down constantly, allowing reloads to be done in either case without a stop in damage per second. It can be upgraded to add a shield to the player upon a successful hit, receive a knockback bonus, or gain the ability to make enemies explode, damaging nearby foes.
*Jump
**Glide - As above, but the third option to upgrade your glide is no longer a replacement, but a combination of both the control, and boost upgrades, allowing for a greater glide, with more overall control.

"Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age."
— Class description

Template:Races infobox Warlocks are "warrior-scholars,"[1] and a class of Guardian. Warlocks utilize powers granted by the Traveler for both attack and defense.

Warlocks were the first to tap the power of the Traveler, wielding its light as they ventured beyond the safety of the Shield. They know each discovery offers new possibilities,[2] and they have devoted themselves to understanding the Traveler and its power. A Warlock mind is an arsenal of deadly secrets, balanced between godhood and madness. On the battlefield, those secrets can shatter reality itself.[3] They search the frontier to find a means to defeat the Darkness once and for all.[4]

Abilities

All Guardians have certain abilities, some of which are granted by the Traveler, others which may appear more mundane in nature. All Guardians have a double jump ability and a "grenade-type" ability whose effects vary by class.[5][6] All these abilities with the exception of the double jump can be upgraded over time and can be used in competitive PvP.[7][8]

  • Jump
    • Glide - As above, but the third option to upgrade your glide is no longer a replacement, but a combination of both the control, and boost upgrades, allowing for a greater glide, with more overall control.

Trivia

  • The visual design for Warlocks was drawn from a range of sources, including wizards and World War I soldiers.[1]
  • Additional Warlock abilities were hinted at, both in concept art (such as shields and flame generation), and in interviews (such as team rez and buff abilities).[11]
